After an immotive and immaculately observed minute's silence for Les 'Mr Stock Car' Eaton, it's the 2.0 Stock Cars which get us under way at Wimbledon tonight....
2.0 Stock Cars
Heat 1 - 61 Karl Totham, 122, 635, 158, 7, 495, 305, 33, 133, 77.
A heavy race to start with, 305 Billy Wood and 29 George Morphey particularly involved, while 229 Robert George had a big coming together with the fence too! Karl 'Flash' Totham wins from yellow grade. Some fence repairs needed too! Also the skies are watering the track for the 2.0 Hot Rods....
Heat 2 - 41 Joe Parker, 229, 29, 61, 245, 7, 532, 158, 33, 495.
A much quieter race this time to the relief of the fence repair staff! Joe Parker is flying round the newly damp track and takes a comfortable win from yellow, and there's a good dash through to 3rd from George Morphey too.
London Championship - 41 Joe Parker, 158 Shane Davies, 33 Gary Madgwick, 495, 61, 7, 122, 635, 532, 77.
Joe Parker is the new London Champion, he was flying again and although Shane Davies was catching him he was never going to have enough laps to catch Joe. A few more fireworks between Davies / Billy Wood and George Morphey again in this one! That's a jump to blue grade for Parker as well by virtue of his two wins tonight.
2.0 Hot Rods
Heat 1 - 72 Gary Goodswen, 88, 7, 65, 75, 39, 475, 626, 29, 43.
Although the rain hos stopped we had a very wet track which the Hot Rod drivers coped well with! A comfortable win for Goodswen, with some entertaining driving from 65 Mark Willis - going round the bend on the outside three wide in the wet is not easy!
Heat 2 - 72 Gary Goodswen, 75, 626, 8, 146, 29, 303, 39, 151, 7.
All 29 cars back out for heat 2, much faster now as the track dries out and a top quality race, an engine blow late on for 11 Alex Crane adding to the drama with oil on the track as the places were fought for! Goodswen shows he's not just good in the wet!
Final - 8 Damon Wellman, 39 Rick Pannell, 30 Martin Codling, 75, 72, 11, 65, 88, 390, 306.
Amazingly we've had all 29 2.0 Hot Rods out for all three races tonight! Goodswen has to drop down to blue grade and he can't make it a hat-trick on the night. Some good fast racing again from the Hot Rod boys with Damo Wellman taking a good win.
Bangers
Heat 1 - 867 Richard Frost, 529, 199, 885, 104, 167, 558, 580, 340, 510.
24 cars for heat 1, some good entertainment as always from the Banger boys, 158 Chris Dingle going in very hard at the Plough Lane end. Frost takes a good win in Jimmy Morris' old car!
Ramp Rollover
635 Wayne Drury is doing a ramp rollover for Oliver Smith,a 2 year old boy with Neuroblastoma, a form of cancer which affects children under 5 years old, and he manages a pretty spectacular rollover!! Heat 2 - 594 Alex Giuntini, 340, 167, 867, 510, 529, 885, 62, 104.
A comfortable win for 594 Smallbox in another entertaining race!
Final - 340 Colin Jones, 167 Jimmy Morris, 885 Dan Wild, 529, 510, 594, 62, 104.
The earlier races took their toll on the numbers for the Final with 14 cars making it, and a comfortable win for Jonesy
