Greetings from Northampton International Raceway where the weather could be described as mixed! We have seen hail, heavy rain and sunshine in the last hour! A healthy field of Rookie Rods have gathered at Northampton for the formula's debut at the Brafield venue.
This is the third round of the DB Mechanical Services Series.
Heat One
579 Dan Harris, 177, 646, 550, 70, 121, 144, 21, 231, 13.
Dan Harris made a good start from the red grade and took to the outside line to pick off the cars in front systematically to finish almost half a lap ahead of second placed Noel Whinney.
Heat Two
579 Dan Harris, 177, 550, 646, 121,144, 70, 506, 135, 13.
In what proved to be virtually a carbon copy of the first heat; Dan Harris makes it two for two as he wins the second heat. Dan hunted down 550 Terry Hannant and took the lead at the halfway point. Another good drive from Harris. Can he take a hat trick?
Final
550 Terry Hannant, 310 Stuart Hillyer, 579 Dan Harris, 177, 121, 322, 70, 144, 231, 13.
On a track that had now dried out somewhat, Terry Hannant managed to stay out in front from flag to flag. Double heat winner Dan Harris couldn't reel in the leaders, despite a caution for a car stricken on the exit of turn 2.
Well done to all involved with tonight's Rookie Rod racing, a fine debut outing that we hope was enjoyed by all.
