Welcome to a dry Great Yarmouth for updates from tonight’s meeting featuring the Superstox, Rookie Rods and National Bangers, 16 Superstox are on track ready to start heat 1, but before the action gets underway we observe a minute’s silence for Kenny Cooke along with some of his family.

Superstox

Heat 1 – 482 Jason Cooper, 204, 24, 233, 376, 612, 23, 176, 540, 114.

Lone white grade 163 Tom Naughton leads for the first half of the race before spinning under pressure from 24 Ben Styles, 204 Carl Pye forces 24 wide with 4 laps to run, with 482 Jason Cooper doing likewise to Pye 2 laps later to take the win.

Heat 2 – 376 Steven Jackson, 482, 17, 233, 540, 23, 176, 163, 279, NOF.

15 for the second heat with 69 missing , 163, 24 and 167 James Meadows all clatter in coming out of the pits turn bringing out the yellow flags, 204 leads the cars back into action and 612 Garry Sparkes launches 114 Eddie Edmonds to gain second spot then does likewise to Pye to take the lead, not for long though as 376 Steven Jackson is on a flyer, 204 and 612 both end the race together in the Caister Bend fencing.

Final – 482 Jason Cooper, 176 Alex Meadows, 612 Garry Sparkes, 540, 17, 163, 279, NOF.

An early stoppage to the Final after the spun 114 car gets collected by 176 Alex Meadows, 279 races into the lead but is soon passed by 483 and 233, these 2 then have a huge crash on the back straight with the charging pack seeing what was going on taking avoiding action, resulting in 167 going hard into a post with 233 and 167 suffering some major damage, 482 wins a very destructive race!

Rookie Rods

Heat 1 – 279 Steven Wood, 326, 348, 550, 231, 19, 309, 127, 650, 39.

15 Rookie rods for their first heat, 279 Steven Wood builds up a decent lead but all his work is undone when 64 Rob Beldom goes in just past the starter’s rostrum bringing out the reds, however once the green flag drops again Wood carries on where he left off opening up a big lead which he holds on to to take the flag.

Heat 2 – 348 Danny England, 550, 326, 231, 279, 19, 650, 10, 127, 322.

279 once again builds himself a good lead but with 5 laps to run it’s down to a car length and when 279 gets held up by the back marking 73 it allows 245 Brad Hudson to nip through and take the win. 245 is later disqualified for being underweight handing the win to Danny England.

Final – 326 Ed Kennett, 19 Shaun Wegg, 309 Nicky Pope, 127, 650, 550, 348, 10, 279, NOF.

With the yellow grades battling at the start of the Final this allows 19 Shaun Wegg to make up ground and take up the running, but he is matched move for move by 326 with the pair side by side for a couple of laps until 326 makes his outside move stick with just a couple of laps to run and takes the flag!

National Bangers

Heat 1 – 628 Kev Taylor, 369, 566, 122, 439, NOF.

9 National Bangers including Aldershot’s 414 Jimmy Craig who gets left alone until the dying stages, 122 Scott Piggin puts 445 Andy Leonard in hard, 369 Jane Allard and 628 Kev Taylor have a good battle for the lead but 369 gets a bit sideways and loses a bit of ground allowing Taylor to pull clear for the win.

Heat 2 – 369 Jane Allard, 566, 122, 414, 439, 714, NOF.

A quiet race for the National Bangers, 414 Jimmy Craig deals with 303 in the only hit of the race with Jane Allard taking the win this time.

Final - 566 Graham Hester, 369 Jane Allard, 122 Scott Piggin, 439, NOF.

An excellent National Banger final, 414 Jimmy Craig gave 714 a bit of payback, 566 Graham Hester takes the flag but 439 Danny Sutton was involved in most of the other action destroying the Corsa of 303 Matt Brown along the way!
