A good crowd enjoyed a warm evening under the lights at Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday night as another four formula spectacular took place at our Plough Lane circuit.
482 Jason Cooper (pictured) had a great night in his Superstox winning all three of his races and taking the Safari Land Rover Grand Final in fine style. Nearly 30 cars took part and provided some great action, and we thank Safari Land Rover Engineering for their generous sponsorship and support throughout this championship and season.
The Bangers were lively too with 558 Rob Haines storming to victory in the final with another solid turnout out of nearly 30 bangers, so thanks to Refine Metals for sponsoring this championship this season.
The Lightning Rods had almost 20 cars last night with 553 Colin Keyton fighting off the opposition to win the Final for this PolleySport/Yokohama round.
On top of all the above the 2.0 Hot Rods put on a great display of racing and a few near misses with 303 Gavin Botfield coming through the field to win a final at last. He must be pleased as he has not won since the Boer War.
A great drive from him and all the 2.0 Hot Rods last night as they continue to chase points for the popular Hoosier Tyre Series.
A good night and we look forward to seeing you all again on 20th October for the National Bangers u1600 (no Mondeos) London Championship plus Destruction Derby, along with Stock Rods and 1300cc Stock Cars!
Don’t forget the small matter of the National Banger World Final this Saturday at Ipswich Stadium! Start time 5pm with well over 200 cars booked in!
Last but not least thanks to Chris Berry for the photo!
