Just a quick update on the 'Rookie' Banger rules. There has been much discussion on the rules being strictly enforced over the past few weeks, and we would like to thank the many drivers for their input and constructive comments.
The main items we are looking at making allowances for in the rules are as follows:
Using Rover injection on Hondas - we are looking at allowing this and will certainly do so for the meetings this weekend at Ipswich and Wimbledon.
Engine Changes - we are looking at allowing some engine changes between models - eg the 1600 Escort engine with the manifold at the back to replace the 1600 Focus engine with the manifold at the front. This will also be allowed this weekend.
We are also considering allowing some Honda engines to be interchanged between Honda models, but not the V-Tec which must only be used in models which came with a V-Tec as standard. This will NOT be permitted this weekend though as we need to do further research.
We are also looking at allowing the 2 litre Weber carburettor to be allowed in certain makes of cars in an effort to bring them closer to the speed of the Hondas and therefore increase the number of more easily available competitive cars. Again, this is NOT permitted as yet.
Also just to clarify again that 15" wheels can be used on cars which came with 15" wheels as standard - there appears to have been some confusion with people thinking we were banning 15" wheels completely.
