The Feb/March issue of Wheelspin, the official magazine of Spedeworth Motorsports, will be on sale at the tracks from January 30th, and the winners of the 2010 Driver of the Year awards have just been announced. Readers voted in larger numbers than the previous two years, publishing Editor Paul Huggett tells us, and the widest margin of victory came in the “Best Newcomer” category, where Sussex-based Superstox driver Paul Langridge attracted the lion’s share of the votes. Young Driver of the Year goes to David Crouch, who graduated from Ministox at the end of the year, and has had some impressive showings in Lightning Rods, with a diverse collection of young racers attracting the attention of the polls.
Overall Spedeworth Motorsports Driver of the Year goes to a crowd favourite whose untiring efforts in National Bangers and 2 Litre Stock Cars have been pure entertainment for many seasons now, and whose sportsmanlike attitude makes him one of the most popular racers on and off track – our congratulations go to Shane Davies.
The awards will be presented at Wimbledon meetings over the late Jan / early Feb period, and more information on the competition will be found in Wheelspin. The editor would like to thank everyone who took time to vote.
