This coming Sunday we say farewell to the grand old lady Wimbledon Stadium.
Before the first green flag of the evening waves on race 1 the clocks are going to be turned back in time as we start the event in the fashion of the ‘good old days’.
At 5pm the event will start with an opening ceremony which will include a grand parade for all the formulas featured throughout the evening.
The grand parade will be led out by Deane & Janet Wood and the staff followed by the Old Skool Superstox then the 1300cc Stock Cars, National Hot Rods & Superstox. We would ask that drivers have their mechanics drive their cars but both driver and mechanic must be wearing overalls. Please remember your passes which you will need to be permitted through the tunnel (the same as if you were going onto the track for a race) onto the track.
Once all cars have entered the arena we would ask for everyone to join the staff on the start line for the opening ceremony.
On completion of the opening ceremony we would ask for all cars, drivers and mechanics with the exception of the 1300cc Stock Cars to leave the arena via the tunnel and don’t forget to collect your passes on the way back into the pits. 1300cc Stock cars drivers, please ensure when you enter the arena for the grand parade that you bring with you all of your necessary PPE so you can get ready on track at the end of the opening ceremony as you will be race 1 and will not have the time to go back into the pits before the race starts.
Once the track is clear of all non-racing personnel race 1 will get underway which will start at 5.30pm.
To add to the atmosphere we will also be selling air horns for a ‘one night only’ opportunity to recreate the memory filled nights of years gone by. These will be for sale from the track shop for £5.00 located in the lower level grandstand.
Turnstiles open at 3.30pm to spectators to allow early access into the stadium.
For one final time we look forward to you joining us at Wimbledon Stadium on Sunday!
