In what has to have been one of the closely guarded secrets in years, 1990 Superstox World Champion John Mickel returns to his racing roots at Foxhall Stadium, Ipswich on Saturday 5th May which is the British Championship meeting for the Formula.
Mickel is not returning to make up the numbers either, he has a brand new RCE Chassis and JB Engine at his disposal and intends to race as often as his other racing commitments will allow.
The former Cambridgeshire man began his racing career in the early 80's in Ministox with Brother Alan, before progressing into the Superstox where title after title was lifted until that golden day at Wisbech back in 1990.
He later moved into Brisca F2 where success followed until moving onto circuit legends with more success, Eurocars, Pick Ups and then NASCAR Pick Ups before being the first non - American to win a NASCAR sanctioined event outside the USA when he won in South Africa.
Mickel Motorsport still campaigns today in the Legends Circuit Championship, running a three car Team, again winning last years UK National Legends Championship and challenging again in 2018.
Now 47, Mickel brings his Sponsor, K - Seal with him and retains his famous #4 racing number.
"I have always loved Superstox and it remains strong in my heart to this day, so it's nice to make a return into a Formula with a lot of very talented young drivers - I am hoping they will be kind to me!"
Mickels return to Superstox will be exclusively profiled in the June Edition of Wheelspin Magazine, in the meantime Race Fans, make a note in your Diary, Saturday May 5th Foxhall Stadium at 6:45PM for the Superstox British Championship, for one of Oval racings oldest titles!
