Another three formula line up this Saturday (6.45 start time) sees the annual John Earrey Memorial meeting as Foxhall remembers one of its greatest characters. Johns career as Commentator and Stadium Manager spanned four decades, and he is still fondly remembered for his contributions to both Stock Car racing and Speedway.

Formula of the year, Superstox are back in town for round five of the Safari Landrover series. Steven Jackson heads up the points chart with a healthy lead over World Champion Ben Marjoram, Sean Smith and former World Champion Jason Cooper come along next with Woodbridge’s Alex Meadows upholding local honours in fifth spot. Fresh from a haul of wins at Great Yarmouth 3 weeks ago is Shaun Brooker who seems to be right in the middle of a purple patch at the moment. Brooker’s racing career has been full of ups and downs, he appears to have a run of bad luck then all of a sudden he can’t put a foot wrong and the wins roll in as they did at the Norfolk track when he took both heats, the final and the Le-Mans start feature race.

Big news in the class right now is the arrival of Daz Kitson, twice a winner of the Brisca Formula Two Stock Car World Championship Kitson is settling into the Superstox and appears to be ruffling a few feathers on the way with his hard hitting style of racing.

The Bangers race in a six a-side team challenge which has seen several drivers from other classes come out and race to remember John. Stock Car stars Kevin Thurlow (Woodbridge) and Aaron Morris (Bracknell) are out in the Bangers tonight along with Cransford Lightning Rod driver Ian Wright. Jono Phipps (Aldringham) swaps his usual role of Foxhall camera man for an outing in the Rodders and Wreckers team. Plenty of established local Banger names are booked, regular racer Jamie Hadley drives for Team Savage and winner of the final last time out at Ipswich Joe Palmer is part of the Old Stock Car Pics team alongside Martlesham garage owner Simon Berry who is now racing in no less than three Spedeworth classes. Jonny Wilkinson will be hoping for a better evening than he had last time out at Foxhall after a heavy crash in the opening race put him out of the meeting, he is booked to race along with fellow Yarmouth racer Kieran Cannell, don’t bet against either of these two taking a trophy back up the A12 as they are also members of the strong looking Team Savage.

Classic Hot Rods make a rare appearance at Foxhall to stir a few memories of the way the racing was when John Earrey was at the peak of his commentating career. The Mk1 Escort is the mainstay of this expensive formula, as indeed it was back in the 1970's and very smart they look as well, these are real reproductions of the Hot Rods of years past many using the all steel Ford crossflow engine, the sound of which will be familiar to long standing race fans. A few of the names will also be familiar as the Classic Hot Rods have tempted many a former driver back out onto the raceways again. Names like Dave Fry in his Mk1 Escort, Colin Hall who races a Mk2 in his old colour scheme and the Vauxhall Chevette of Norfolk's Rob Montagner.
