So far we have given you the race dates for the Banger World Series 2013, and also confirmed that each of the 8 rounds will carry a Wild Card entry place to the World Final at Ipswich on 12th October 2013.
Now to put a little more flesh on the bones as there's quite a bit of talk about how it's going to work.
The Wild Card place at each round will go to the winner of the Final at that meeting, rather than the highest points scorer over the day as has been used previously. We think this makes it more accessible to the 'man on the street' racer, as potentially someone can qualify without the commitment of doing all of the qualifying rounds at their particular promotion. Depending on numbers at each round we hope to make all of these Finals open to allcomers.
We are an entertainment business, so the World Series has been put together to provide the paying public with what they want to see. Without going into great detail so early, we are putting things into place to ensure that these 8 events are each a spectacle, with top entertainment for both your 'hardcore' Banger fan and your occasional punter. The nature of the meetings we also feel will give a realistic chance of qualifying to drivers outside of the so-called 'elite' of racing. The existing Spedeworth and Incarace world qualifying points systems will continue with the existing mix of attendance points meetings and qualifier meetings, and will run alongside the World Series. Some of the World Series events will also double as World Qualifiers.
One more snippet of information for now - after each Wild Card Final at each event there will be a sponsored 'Showdown' race - where the last car standing or first to complete a set number of laps will win a significant cash prize provided by the sponsor.
